Looking for a new home

We've spent a fair bit of time looking at display homes and house plans lately trying to decide on which house to have built. I took lots of photos as memory joggers - they all tend to blend together after a while.

All the houses are beautifully decorated and landscaped but I want to be able to imaging US living there with our furniture and garden  Some were too small. Some were too big. Some had one or two rooms we liked but not others.

This house had the most enormous bedroom with a huge and luxurious ensuite, and entire wall of windows at the front of the house..... not for us.
Reminds me of Goldilocks and the Three Bears - This one's too hot/cold/big/small...
We do think we've now found one that's just right though. The main bedroom is at the rear of the house with sliding glass doors to the garden. The entire living area has doors opening into the garden.
There's enough room but not too much. I can picture us living there.

  1. House hunting is one thing but home hunting is really hard. Somehow you just know when you know. Best of luck and may the best house win.

  2. Isn't this such an exciting phase? Can be stressful yes but on the whole still exciting. They all look gorgeous to us but we're sure you will both pick the best :)

  3. Here's hoping you find the the PERFECT house for you and your will stand out and be the best home for you.
Take Missy along when you go house hunting....she should definitely have a say....not only that but dogs have a way of knowing what's best.
    Good luck.

  4. "Your" house looks lovely! LOVE the sliding doors leading from the bedroom to the garden.-we had to miss this feature to get the block we wanted. Our bedroom is at the back of the house too and it is great.

  5. Wow that looks awesome - I love rooms opening up to the garden, although it wouldnt work here - we have too many mosquitoes and other creepy crawlies - we need screen doors. What an exciting time for you!

  6. I love the idea of the house opening onto the garden, this is something I long to do but would require extensive remodeling. I know what you mean about all the houses melding together in your memory after awhile, we went on some open house tours a few years ago and after the tenth or twelfth one it becomes overwhelming. Some were so large I couldn't even imagine living there.

You have many wonderful photos and great ideas here, can't wait to see what you decide on.

  7. We went through the same thing when we moved here 10 years ago. It's fun but stressful, too. I like the house you picked, too. :o)

  8. So, did you get it? If you can picture you and your family living there, then that’s a very good sign that this house is the one. Still, take all the time you need. Buying a house is such a major decision, and nobody wants you to regret your choice. Good luck! Calvin @

I would love to know what you think and appreciate your comments.
